We go to Bot River to explore the Bot Riviera Festival on a beautiful day in September... Beth, Noel, Charl and me.
First stop.....Beaumont Wines....
The Companjes Drift Mill where we bought freshly milled meal and were amazed at the authentic mill mechanisms.... and the dedication of the miller/ mechanic to the complete restoration of the mill to working
condition. Large interesting drawings of the mechanical parts by Jane Beaumont.
Next stop Luddite Wines where we loved the ceramic interactive sculpture, the views and the pigs under the fruit blossom oblivious to any visitors!
Our most special place was the rustic and wonderful Goetvertrouw, where we saw the wild cottage garden with clivias, gladiolus, dog rose and nasturtiums; more exquisite views with the flowering Erythrina tree and colourful esoteric paintings. We drank coffee and ate DELICIOUS melk tart, home made by our host who grows and harvests virtually everything herself and runs a wine seller with just two helpers. An incredible woman!
Beth and Noel warmly invited Charl and I for further sensory wonders in their cosy and abundant cottage. Noel is depicted below with his white elephant and Beth in her Aladdin cave of interior wonderment. More yummy food prepared by Beth. Sweetest dogs and things to look at every where!
